Families & Immigration

General United States Citizenship and Immigration Services has two step process: 1. Petitioner (USC/LPR) files for relatives. 2. Beneficiary (relatives) files an application to migrate by Adjusting Status inside the country or Consular Processing. Family members who are United States citizens (USC) and lawful permanent residents (LPR) can help certain family members immigrate to the United States. Immigration through family is a two-step process. The first step is the family visa petition, filed by the U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident family member on behalf of the person who will be immigrating. The second step is the application to become a permanent resident, filed by the person who will be immigrating. Who are Immediate Relatives; children of USC, spouses of USC and parents of USC. Who are preference categories; married & unmarried sons & daughters of USC, brothers & sisters of USC, spouses, children and unmarried sons & daughters of LPR.
